New hires and promotions

Northrim Bank is proud to announce the promotion of three officers and welcomes two new employees. Northrim Chairman and CEO Joe Schierhorn is pleased to announce the following updates:

  • Samrie Canales - AVP, Branch Manager, Eastside Community Branch
  • Andrew Heckman - AVP, Branch Manager, Fairbanks West Community Branch
  • Elisa Borcherding - Assistant Branch Manager, Float Pool
  • Josh Fuentes - Assistant Branch Manager, Lake Otis Community Branch
  • Taylor Ladenburger - Commercial Loan Officer

Canales started at Northrim in 2021 and has over 10 years of customer service and management experience. She is a member of the Alaska Women’s Business Center advisory council and volunteers with the Bank’s School Business Partnership School, Fairview Elementary School.


Heckman joined Northrim in December and has six years of experience in the banking industry. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Born and raised in Fairbanks, Heckman recently moved back to Alaska.


Borcherding has been at Northrim for three years and has six years of experience in the banking industry. She is working to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management from Penn State University. Borcherding volunteers with AARF, Meals on Wheels, The Children’s Place and Northrim’s School Business Partnership schools, Fairview Elementary School and Career Tech High School. A life-long Alaskan, Borcherding has been recognized as a TOPS (Teamwork, outstanding, performance, success) winner three times in her time at Northrim.


Fuentes started at Northrim in December with 10 years of experience in the financial industry. He has worked in California and Texas before moving to Alaska. Fuentes holds a business analyst certification from Purdue University. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.


Ladenburger joined Northrim in 2021 and has three years of experience in the financial industry and over 10 years of experience in customer service. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics with a minor in Business Analytics from the University of South Dakota. Ladenburger volunteers with the Bank’s School Business Partnership School, Career Tech High School.
