Everyone at Northrim takes their commitment to Alaska seriously and is honored to be able to help our communities with contributions throughout the year. 2022 continued to be a difficult year for many, and it was important to the Bank to continue with its tradition of giving.

Northrim Bank is pleased to announce the opening of its newest branch, the Nome Branch, located at 110 Front Street, Suite 100. The Bank received special permission to open a temporary location to meet the needs of the Nome community in the aftermath of the storms that devastated the region earlier this year.

Residential Mortgage is pleased to announce its expansion into Arizona and Colorado. Loan originators Ron and Brooke Schlachter are based in Phoenix and Sheila Kennelley is in Denver.

Residential Mortgage is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Baldwin to President. He will retain his position as Chief Operating Officer as well. Mike has 35 years of experience in the mortgage industry, 32 years as an Executive in management and has been with Residential Mortgage as the Chief Operating Officer since 2021.

Northrim Bank is proud to announce two recent recognitions from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Northrim was presented with the 2021 SBA Alaska Lender of the Year and the 2021 SBA Alaska 504 Third Party Lender of the Year awards.

A major, long-time supporter of the University of Alaska system, Northrim Bank, has gifted $259,500 to fund UA initiatives that advance research about Alaska’s economy and fiscal policy, expand business education and build entrepreneurship capacity. Northrim’s donation also includes funding to five community campuses where Northrim employees live and work. 

Alaska Pacific University (APU) continues to host a Bloomberg Terminal on campus, thanks to a grant from Northrim Bank. Popularized in the ‘80s, the Bloomberg Terminal is a key tool for business and finance leaders, allowing APU students to develop direct skills in global investing and financial literacy as they manage real-time transactions on behalf of the university. The terminal provides access to stock listings and company profiles, displayed on an array of monitors in a business lab at APU’s Grant Hall.

Northrim Bank will host Community Summit Luncheons in Fairbanks, Juneau and Anchorage on April 22, 25 and 27, respectively. The program will feature commentary on identifying opportunities for growth in Alaska’s changing economy.
